Who can defeat WOW as the most popular game?

    09/05/2008

The World of Warcraft officially launched for about four years. from the investigation by news.mmosite.com, they have sumed up the main MMORPG which can be put in the equal position with World of Warcraft. The last numbers from Blizzard indicated that in January 2008, World of Warcraft has passed the 10 million mark, and many players are wondering whether World of Warcraft has peaked or not. Among the multitude of highly anticipated MMORPGs coming out, will there be a WoW killer?

Killer 1: Age of Conan: Hyborian Adventures

Age of Conan, which was launched May 20th in the US and May 23rd in Europe, has attracted much favorable attention to players. On June 6th, Funcom was proud to announce that Age of Conan will pass the astounding "One Million Copies Shipped" milestone. "Age of Conan released with some initial success a couple of months ago, and we did see some of our players leave to try the game. However, we've seen about 40 percent of those players return to World of Warcraft." Said by Blizzard president Mike Morhaime

Killer 2: Aion: Tower of Eternity

As NCsoft announced the development of Aion in May 2006, many players start to expect more details of this game. At E3 2006, NCsoft first released game features and promotion video. On October 31, 2007, Korean closed beta was confirmed, and now, Aion is in the 3rd Korean CBT and English version is comfired to be launch in 2009. Western MMOs built on the EverQuest/World of Warcraft model offer incident-packed questing, spectacular dungeons, relatively fast levelling, deft storytelling and universes rich in detail and lore, peopled by grotesque anthropomorphic cartoons clad in spiked, primary-coloured fetish wear. Can't we have a life of beauty and ease? NCsoft thinks so, and Aion: Tower of Eternity is the result.

Killer 3: Warhammer: The Age of Reckoning

The most frequently asked question I got now the WAR NDA dropped was "Is WAR the WoW killer". Answer: No, it is not, don't be silly. WAR will take a large bite out of WoW subscription numbers, but not enough to cause WoW to die. In my opinion Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning is of similar quality as World of Warcraft, doing some things better, some things worse, and having a different focus for the end game. EA Mythic responded their upcoming MMORPG Warhammer: The Age of Reckoning won't be a World of Warcraft killer. "We're not going to hit the same numbers as WoW." said by EA General Manager Mark Jacobs. While EA CEO John Riccitiello said: "Warhammer Online will be a strong entry in the MMORPG space, but will not rival WoW."

Other Killers: Blade & Soul/ Ragnarok Online 2/ Guild Wars 2 and More...
